Courage Classic Ride Blog 2

July 21, 2012
Day 1 of the ride.
We were up by 4:30am, on the rode to Leadville by 5:30am in order for the guys
to leave by 7:00am!  Very chilly morning in the mountains.  Leadville is Colorado's highest town. Temperature was 42 when they took off!

Because of the cold starting temperature, they took backpacks to stash
winter gear and change into rain gear...just in case.
Ready to ride!

Awesome tribute to Patrick and the son of one of Mikes's suppliers.

Brad had his yellow butterflies attached for encouragement along the route.

....and they are off

One of the aid stations was atop Fremont Pass.  Check out the elevation!

It's all downhill from here!  They made it to the top.
The ending spot for day 1 was Copper Mtn resort.  I got a call from them saying
that they were going to go ahead and ride all the way back to Silverthorne rather than stop.
Next call was from Murphey's tavern in Silverthorne (about 3 miles from condo).
They had a great first day!! Rode 60 miles.
