Lake Powell Trip

July 3-6

Spent the 4th of July this year with 3 other couples at Lake Powell.
This has become an annual summer trip for the group.
Interesting weather this year. First 2 days was overcast from wildfires.

View from the boat. Sheer canyon walls are amazing.

Water line.  Lake Powell's water levels fluctuate tremendously each year.
This year the water is low. Relative statement..... 250 plus feet deep still in some areas.

Next pictures were all taken as we were "cruising" FAST on the water.

Sheila and Bill Hurd

Christy and Bob Wiig (boat owners)

Our campsite was in an isolated canyon/bay off the main channel
across from Hall's ferry landing.

Great place to anchor the boat without huge waves.
Brad was the front anchor guy!

Our camp was up a hill, which gave us a nice breeze at night.
Our tent is the farthest away in this picture. Unfortunately the breeze at night
also blew sand right in the tent windows.  Can you say, "gritty teeth"?

We hiked up the hill behind our camp to watch fireworks set off at
Bullfrog Marina. When we got back to camp, there was a wet and very frightened
golden retriever dog who had escaped her owners.  She had climbed, swam and ran for miles.
She was exhausted.  She knew we would take care of her and we did.  Pampered her all evening.
Bob got on the radio and notified the Park Service.
Her owner came for her in the morning. It was so heartwarming to see him hug her.
We found out her name was "Daisy".

Perfect place to swim and fish.

The Wigg's beautiful boat.

Tried to get some pictures to show exactly what the boat looks like.
I am near the back and Brad is sitting in the cabin below.
There are 3 steps down into the cabin which sleeps 5.

Inside the cabin on KP duty.  At the left, you can see cupboards behind
the black windows, and the microwave above the sink. Stove is to the left of the
countertop with a fridge below it.

Kathy is seated on a built in chair with the master bed behind her.
There are small windows on each side of the bed.  Between where I was standing
and the bed is a table and benches to sit at. Bathroom is to my right.
Very nice accommodations!!!  Like a houseboat that goes fast!!!
